Mitas Motorcycle Tyres for Adventure and Touring Bikes
The Mitas tyre range for adventure touring, dual-sport, and rally motorcycles is one of the most deeply segmented and well-thought-out lineups on the market. Choosing the perfect tyre here depends entirely on where your route takes you: from pristine tarmac to harsh, rocky off-road trails.
Our tyres are perfectly suited for heavy dual-purpose motorcycles (BMW GS, KTM Adventure, Honda Africa Twin), as well as mid-capacity dual-sports, classic trail bikes, and machines prepared for rally raids.
How to Choose Tyres by Tarmac / Off-Road Ratio
We classify our adventure tyres by the percentage of intended on-road versus off-road use. This helps riders find their ideal balance:
- 100% Tarmac: TOURING FORCE — a pure road tyre designed for maximum comfort and massive mileage on the highway (recommended for heavy adventure tourers over 1200cc).
- 90/10 (On-road/Off-road): ENDURO TRAIL-SP (formerly TERRA FORCE-R) — confident highway cruising with the ability to safely tackle gravel roads. Utilises Multi Compound Tread Technology (MCTT).
- 70/30: ENDURO TRAIL-ADV / ADV 2 and MC-24 INVADER — a versatile choice for travelling, offering an excellent balance between fast motorways and dirt trails.
- 60/40: ENDURO TRAIL+ — an absolute hit for expeditions. The aggressive block pattern delivers superb off-road traction without sacrificing stability on the tarmac.
- 50/50: ENDURO TRAIL (based on the legendary E-07 model) — the 'golden mean' for those whose routes feature an equal mix of hard and soft surfaces.
- 40/60 and 30/70: MC-23 ROCKRIDER and ENDURO TRAIL-XT — serious off-road tyres with pronounced tread blocks for technical terrain and gravel tracks.
- 20/80: ENDURO TRAIL-XT+ — the most aggressive pattern (longitudinal scoops) designed for soft, muddy, and rocky ground.
- Rally & Competition: ENDURO TRAIL-RALLY (PRO) — specialised tyres for rally raids, providing high-speed stability and outstanding puncture resistance.
Technologies and the DAKAR Version (Yellow Stripe)
Most tyres in this category (ranging from 60/40 to 20/80) carry official M+S (Mud+Snow) certification for performance in challenging weather conditions. Our road-oriented models actively employ MCTT (Multi Compound Tread Technology) — using different rubber compounds in the centre and on the shoulders to combine huge mileage with confident cornering grip.
Crucial Buying Advice: If you are travelling on a fully loaded heavy adventure bike (with a pillion and luggage) and plan to leave the tarmac, we highly recommend choosing the special Dakar version (marked with a yellow stripe). These feature an Ultra Heavy-Duty carcass that holds its shape perfectly at low pressures and provides brilliant protection against punctures and rock impacts. For daily city riding and maximum comfort on the road, the Standard versions (without a stripe) are the better fit.
